If you like the way the W114's ride, you will love the SLC's . they are basically the same platform with heavy duty parts. The 500SLC rides like a sports car. If you can find one, it would be the one to have with the 300hp 5.0 v8 (as opposed to the 180hp that you had in the 450slc that you borrowed) and a 4 speed automatic.

They are real slingshots.

actually loved the way the w108 rode (sure, you could scrape the exhaust, but the rubber grommets? whatever -floating exhaust- worked so well)

as to the 300hp ...yikes... many tickets. but, yes, they used your model in off road/safari type rallies and on tracks, i think, but you know that already.

btw do you have your own shop, or just the dream location of every d.i.y. guy (or in my case, the wannabee)?

I live in Texas, it's flat, it's hot but a 1000 sq ft hobby shop costs next to nothing to rent. I don't do this for a living. It's just a very sick hobby.

i am willing to help "cure" you.

i'll take a 6.9 off your hands, for starters

really, its for your own good. trust me.

(actually, the five speeding tickets i would get on the way back west would lose me my license; if the 280s could do 130 < yes really >, then with over twice the displacement, uh, and speed rated tires then...?)

One of my 6.9's is probably going to go to a new owner at the end of the week. I have a 500SLC for sale and a 59 Ford Pickup truck that I am trying to trade for either a trailer or a two post lift. I must have been out of my nut to buy the 59 ford, actually reading back on the threads I could probably find a few people who told me that when I first posted it.

That will leave me with a much more reasonable 12 cars

I think so. I've always liked the SLC's. The 450SLC was one of my dream cars as a kid. Wish I could have helped cure Alabbassi of his oversupply but I just don't have the money for these sorts of toys.

The SLC's do look very cool and with the new paint even better in euro trim than the US shod bumpers. And with a 4 speed automatic....fancy that.

This one is a 450SLC 5.0 so it has a 3 speed, the one I have for sale is a 500SLC with a 4 speed. I should just bite the bullet, keep it and fix it up.

A couple of more pictures with a decent camera and some trim installed. I seem to have lost some of the screws which will require a trip to the hardware store.
Grill insert seems to have gone missing also.

I hate that when it happens!

I hope to finish putting it back together and bring it home on Saturday.

Deck lid spoiler was standard on the 450SLC 5.0's and 500SLC's. I pulled it off prior to the car getting painted.
