This link is for my 1976 450SEL but if you look at the path, it looks like it is a 107 with a M117 4.5

Page 5 shows a picture of the transmission link but has a weak description of how to adjust it.

Michael
My M117 engine manual provides adjustment details for both the M116 and M117 engines. There are instructions for cars with and without something they call a "gate lever", for manual and auto transmissions and for cars with cruise control versions 1 and 2!

Best to have a manual,

Maybe this will help, but it is for M117 engine. M116 engine may use different adjustments (On my 107 SL this is the case)

I think I may have figured it out to an extent. I messed around with the linkage under the air filter box and it's shifting a little better. It's still not right I don't think, but better.

If it turns out to be the transmission let me know. I have a couple of 3 speeds lying around.

The correct way to adjust the rod according to the manual is to let the rod be as far back as it will go, and have the linkage at idle, then adjust the rod so that at idle it is not being pulled by your throttle. In other words, when the linkage is at rest so is the rod. I think the book words it a little better but I hope this makes sense. It shouldn't be "Pushed" back or "Pulled" up.

You may have a 350, check your VIN, it may be a 450. Are your front bumpers fat or thin? Headlamps round or square? Interior leather/tex or velour? If any of those answers are the latter, not the former (square lamps not twin round, thin bumpers, velour interior) then it probably is a 350. But you may want to know MOST 450 parts will go right on, even engine parts. The cams, crank, rods and heads are the major differences (aside from the block of course).
