Visit to Classic Centre in Fellbach

Hello, I recently drove my trusty E300D wagon to the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, and visited the nearby classic centre... there's a small collection of older cars there, so here's some pics for you fellow retro fans... (there's more pics from this trip in 'open discussion'... search for 'road trip to stuttgart' or Road trip to Stuttgart...

(the green 6.3 AMG would be my choice to take home...)

Very good stuff! Thanks for sharing. Your girlfriend should realize how lucky you are to only have to cross a continent Are you allowed in the workshop or to view the work being done?

Just a short hop thru the tube, across France, and you are there - you lucky dog!

I have always wondered if they might keep your car there to show off for a few months and then return it - or if they simply accept outright donations.

Thanks for the photos!

Living my dream. Great pics. It was hard talking my fiance into a European (Mercedes) trip for our honeymoon. We leave next spring. Is this place right by the museum?

This place is around a 10 minute drive from the main museum, in a suburb of Stuttgart... I wasn't planning on visiting it (didn't even know it existed) but one of the staff at the main museum told me about it... I didn't get to see in the workshop, but you might be able to get in if you ask nicely. They were setting up for a function while I was there, hence the tables and chairs... maybe you can hire it for a wedding reception venue There's a good gift-shop there too, lots of rare free brochures etc...

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I wonder what special W108 parts that car has (and if there are any more in a backroom somewhere).

The classic center must have put an AMG sticker on the back.

The AMG 6.3's are a rare beast, probably fewer than a dozen having been modified.
The mods were done in stages ,ranging from cam changes, modified intakes to complete AMG specially cast heads. All suspensions were stock ,which says a lot!!
There were a few AMG 6.3 powered W107s ,one 6.3 powered W112 cabriolet .
There were also the famous 6.7 liter engines (4) but these were not available to the public in general. And there vwas a one off McLaren M series with a 7 liter M-100 engine which broke AMG ( 250,000 DM bills ) .
