What is a good engine and tranny worth out of 74 450Sl

this is out of a running rust bucket 74 450SL
Any idea what a good engine and drive train would bring?

I know of someone who is trying to get rid of an M117 with tranny for $100 - no takers so far.

How about...

...some Fannie Mae stock tossed in to sweeten the deal?

(Sorry panda, no offense. These are not the best of times are they?)

I've watched your trials and tribulations here for awhile - keep that drive train in the barn for a bit 'til things stabilize.

Best regards,
Kevin

Start collecting parts and restore the SL, once in good condition it won't depreciate and you may make money once the lynching is finished on wall street.

I hear ya, just trying to clear out the garage for other projects. I am fascinated though that there is not a very good market for these ol gals
(w107) unless they are road worthy and trouble free . Now that may not be possible, but seems what the market is dictating
I will keep this, perhaps make one car out of the several part heaps I have laying about.
Stock market, - my smart move - had my oldest daughters higher education funds in washington mutual. I sold it all right before it tanked. No insight, just luck ... I had a few beers and celebrated. Everything else I own or owned perhaps - well lets just say - not as lucky... but the beer still is good

I'll shortly be having the same issue with my 1976 engine and tranny. I might just disassemble them with my boys and some of the neighborhood kids so they can really see what makes and engine tick.
