Fuel Injection Noise!

Hey guys.
When I turn the ignition to 1, and have just the electrics/fuel injection running there is a 'rudder' sort of shaking noise coming from somewhere. (Its a 280SE W108 by the way) Only happened after id been driving around for a bit and started car again. Seems to run fine but this noise cant be good, and I havent a clue what it is.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers, Luke

injection noise

Take a look at the mounting points of your fuel pump. I think there are some rubber grommets in there and they crack. It could be they are swelling due to heat when you are running so you hear them when you go for a restart.

You can still get these grommets at the dealer and they are cheap.

I agree.
Here are the mount part numbers ..there are 3 of them and when one breaks, the pump hits the cover and that is the noise you hear

If someone changed the pump to the new style, they also may not have changed the required new mounting plate. That is here also:
