1960 220sb

My uncle's got a decrepit 220sb sitting in his barn. It's got a seized engine, but is complete as far as I can tell under the dirt. I've thought about hauling it home and playing with it. If it's too far gone, what is its parts value, assuming usual rust issues? What do these go for in good shape?

Prices are variable, and you'd just wind up spending a ton of time shagging emails, pulling parts, packing stuff and on and on. Probably not worth it.

My suggestion would be to pull the spark plugs and spray some PB Blaster down the cylinder (a lot of it). Put the plugs back in and let it sit while you get things organized to bring it home.

Once you get it home, you'll be ready to break that engine loose.....and it may come loose and wind up being just fine. I've done it several times.

Is that an Arizona Barn or an Ohio (rust belt) barn? Rust is the scariest scenario. Anything mechanical can be resolved, but if the frame is rusted through then it might be worth the sum of its usable parts. I saw a rusty 180d sell on Ebay last week for $325.00. I also saw a sweet looking 180 from Arizona at the $5,000 range (reserve not met) recently. Hopefully it is just dirty and not REALLY rusty.

I have a lot of 220sb parts in storage. Let me know if you need something like a starter or water pump or carbs.

I also have a few odds and ends for the old 220 six. A gen, starter and head iirc.

It's a Central South Texas barn, so quite dry. There is some rust but I'm not sure where, I'll have a look. It's been there pretty much its entire life so hopefully it's nothing terrible. Thanks for the parts heads-up, I'll keep it in mind if we try to restore it.

Hi Josh,

I am in Houston! Are you in Texas? Maybe I can help you get it running?

I am in Austin, but we are probably going to take it to my brother-in-law's house in Dallas. If we ever get it, I'll let you know hehe
