I was studying the diagram of the WRD in the manual I have and took note of the ' compensating washers' which are used to adjust the thermostat pin as well as the spring plunger. When I cleaned the WRD there was just one washer visible and that one is at the top of the WRD where the thermo pin hits it. When I have installed the WRD I notice some play in the plunger, first, and then the obvious difference in the space below the thermo pin-this slack should disappear as the thermo pin extends downward in order to actuate the plunger which then shuts off the vacuum from the intake at the CSV as well as actuate an arm in the injection pump and allows the engine to breathe without that big hole in it to put it mildly in addition to changing the dynamic in the injection pump. Wow! that was mouthful!!
Do any of you have a method to ensure that the washers in one or both places are adequate to make the WRD work the way it should prior to installation?
