Cool Today we fixed..

My turn signal switch that would not stay in either position on it's own.
And Possibly my occasionally jumpy fuel gauge.
And also cleaned the lenses on the cluster and all the back light bulbs, all of which were filthy with dust and crud from age. The cluster looks twice as bright now, I actually had to turn it down some tonight.

My clock is still dead of course. I've repaired the later models that have capacitors failed from age, but this one looks like it would take a fair convincing to come apart. (read: I'll break it if I try) Anyone ever thought about replacing it with a small tachometer? Seems like I've seen one roughly that size somewhere.

Hello Wolf,

The VDO tachometer from a 300SEL 6.3 fits into the clock hole. The dash cluster on them is the same configuration except it has a tack instead of a clock. It seems like I have seen some other aftermarket ones that small also.

The fusable link in the clock blows and usually knocks the clock out. These are quite fixable.

That's funny, we have dozens of those clocks from 911's here.
I guess I'll fix mine then.
