I think his question was are they stock, not do 'yall like them...

If you buy this car, remove one of the rubber pads and look for apart number of it's something like a 9ine or 12welve digit number like '116 120 485 343' then it's an original. if not, it's not.

but ultimately if you like it, keep it. if it's Genuine MOST CERTAINLY KEEP IT. it's RARE..VERY rare.. first I've seen of them.

BTW that looks like a fine car....I'd take the union jack off the rear window before I even drive it off the lot.

Its like this. I don't like Euro bumpers oN W126s period because it looks to me like it's had its nose and ass punched in. I think the US bumpers complement the rest of the car very nicely. But I would need to have Euro headlamps on W126s.

On W116s, I like Euro bumpers if it has the full treatment, aka bumpers and euro lights. Any combination of euro headlights and US bumpers or US lights with Euro bumpers looks butt ugly to me.

Whether or not they are original, I want them. I would buy the car, remove the overriders, and then resell the car if I could afford to. But I will get them eventually. You know how?

They had the car for sale for $2,999 before it was $1,999. And I think they were selling it for more at one time. No one will buy it with the way the economy is now and it being an older luxury car. It will wind up in the Pull-A-Part and I will be first in line to pull those parts.

You may laugh, but I have seen more than one W116 or W123 Mercedes that was in superb condition with a $1,999 or so dealer price tag on the windshield that never sold and then was sent to the wrecking yard. There was a time capsule 450SEL at a wrecker last year that had about 50,000 miles on it. The car was in mint condition and I only had time to pull the dashboard out before the yard closed. The next day I went back and there were two cars stacked on top of it. All the original glass was broken and I couldn't get back into the car because the roof had collapsed.

And I say USA bumpers + Euro lights = win.

I saw one of those bars on a W116 gasser at the Arlington Pull A Part a little over two months ago. I can't say if it was an MB option, or not. I can keep an eye out for you at the Lynnwood and Arlington yards, since I'm close to them, and cruise them often for bits and pieces.

I had to laugh at the locomotive comments, because they're kind of true. Nothing wrong with it, though. To each their own, I say. At least I agree that brown/brown colour combos are very classy. It's the ultimate accessory colour, and i know that my Mercedes will never clash with my clothing! We Milanbraun owners gotta back each other up.

No! I missed out on a set? Keep an eye out for me, if you would. I'd be happy to drive up there if something cool like that came up. Thinking about it, even if it's not an MB option, they are most likely made for them specifically, seeing how perfectly they fit on the bumper.

Definitely looks to be made specifically for the car. I'll keep my eyes open.

The car is up for sale again, at $1,450 this time! I went and looked at them in person. The fit is poor, so probably not a dealer item, but I'm sure I could fix them. I looked up the VIN and it does not mention them. The salesman turned down my offer to buy the overriders. Does anyone want to buy the car? I'll give you $100 for the grille guard and overriders! http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ctd/1602396307.html

I also saw a W115 for sale with similar set. I want to know who made them!

At $1450, I would think you could buy the car, remove the bumpers, and get pretty close to $1450, if not more, back for the car.

That's what I was thinking, but I don't know. With my luck I would buy the car, try selling it for months and then finally have it sell at $500. At least in my area, Mercedes don't seem to sell unless they are something unique. It has broken down seat padding and typical neglect, but at least it's clean! If I knew I could get $1,300 for the car I would buy it, swap bumper parts, and resell.

IT shouldn't be too hard to make something like that, if you're really that interested in it.

I like the euro bumpers on the coupe, and the US bumpers on the sedan. The longer bumpers add to the imposing look of the sedan, but I think the euro bumpers look more sleek, which go well with the different grille.
