W108 fuel pump options
Hi Guys,
Sorry to have to start a new thread again - didnt want to cause any confusions. I really need a hand on this one. Turns out my local parts place can get fuels pumps for three 280SE's 1. W116 280SE 2. W108 280SEL 3.5 3. W108 280SE 3.5 Mine is a plain W108 280SE - 2.8 litre not a 3.5 My question is whether the 3.5 pumps can be put on a 2.8 - or whether the newer W116 pump can be put on a W108 when the engine size is the same. Thanks for anyones help in advance, the information is very valuable to me. Cheers, Luke

You cannot use an EFI pump on your car. You have to use a high volume low pressure fuel pump. The Bosch mechanical FI pump does the high pressure part.
The original pump is rebuildable. It can be disassembled, cleaned, bearing replace, brushes replaced and then reassembled. http://www.m-100.cc/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2529

ok, this is weird.
Wednesday night - fuel pump leaked a constant drip, like 2 drops a second maybe a bit less. Today, after doing some welding on another car, had to move the W108 and the fuel pump didnt leak AT ALL. I tried it with accessories only for 2 minutes, no leaking, then with engine running for over ten minutes, no leaking at all. Im am completely confused. Thought when I turned the engine off water started dripping from around the oil sump res. Weird again.
