Stromberg misery
Have the 1978 230 with the stromberg sidedraft carb. Lost the mixture adjusting screw that goes into the bottom of the fuel bowl and adjusts from the outside. I walked a bit of interstate but you know the chances of finding one little fitting. Anybody have a part or a whole carb????

Yeah, I know. however, it seems to not drip much when the throttle is closed since the needle comes down into it. However, that is now a moot issue since, although that worried me, I didn't catch fire and am hoping some of the kind folks that have responded may find one for me. I hate it when I catch fire---kinda burns me where I sit. I had the carb apart and the o-ring was worn and ended up more loose than I would wish but put it back anyway---always come back to bite us doesn't it.

BTW, I'm checking Phil also--and I have returned an e-mail to Jeffrey.
And I think i've done the right thing to attach a sketch of the part. Steve |

Hi Steve,
That drawing is pretty good... I have bolts that look like that. I actually think I remember seeing new ones with card board wrapping to protect the threads. By chance, do you know what size it is? I probably have different sizes. I can take photos of bolt to make sure it is correct.

Jeffrey, the part is not so much a "bolt" as it is a jet body that inserts into the bottom of the fuel bowl and includes the necked-down diameter that serves as an o-ring groove, a threaded portion and a hollow portion that serves as the jet into which the long needle drops from the "slug" that is controlled by vacuum in the round top portion of the carb. It is the whole item that goes into the fuel bowl. Just want to be clear.
Thanks for the response. Steve |

Steve,
From the drawing, it looks like it is threaded, so I called it a bolt. The piece also has something that kind of pokes out at the top or head right?
