1955 300 SLR in the Schlumpf collection
I just learned that the Schlumpf collection in Alsace-Lorraine has a 1955 300SLR in its collection. I thought Mercedes never sold any of these cars. Does anyone know how the Schlumpf brothers managed to get one?

Are you confusing the 300SL with the 300SLR?

I would have said any three hundred sl built in fifty five was a road car.
I do believe they made some with alloy bodies for light racing duty.....not to be confused with the true slr which iirc has a hairy chested straight eight gran prix based engine.
