Still looking for that relay! when I turn the key on (not actually starting) , the fuel pump kicks on for a few seconds and then turns off. Is this normal or should it stay running? You could put a stop watch to it as it is consistent everytime. Figure it must be the relay and it is working as designed.

I dont know where it is on your car but the operation sounds right for a djet car (I assume you have the M117 engine with djet?) It should only start running again when it gets a signal that the engine is cranking. the priming pulse is just to get the fuel rail back up to pressure.
cheers

Yes, it is the m117 w/djet. Sounds like it is functioning normally. The car had been sitting for a couple of years before I purchased it. Going through the ritual....cleaned the tank, replacing fuel lines, etc. The electric fuel pump was not working. Took it off and it was froze up (full of varnish). Removed the top & gave it a good cleaning- flushing. Bench ran fine. Plan on putting it back on today & trying to start her up. Thanks

Make sure you use some loctite blue or put paint across the tops of those little screws when you reassemble. If you compress the oring too much tightening them it will stop working and if not tight enough the little b's come right out with the vibration. So use something to hold them in place when the plate is on tight enough.
cheers and good luck
