Ahhhhhh!

Thanks for the shots...

BTW...the spot in your driveway...is that where you park her during the sunny, "show off" days?

Makes the neighbors jealous, eh?
Makes the neighbors more jealous when I drive her around the development (with the drivers window down so I can hear the sweet sounding engine revving and the throaty exhaust notes coming from the rear of the car).

Aren't memories great, the one thing they haven't figured out how to tax us on (and I hope they don't figure out how to do that ! ). The 280SE has an almost new car aroma to her, not dusty or musty but I know what you mean. One of my uncle's had a 600 acre farm in Iowa and I can remember the smell of his 1950 something Ford pickup truck that I rode in quit often as we went into town. Then there was the 1937 Chevrolet my dad had, the first car I remember being a passenger in followed by a 1950 black Ford 4-door flathead V-8, next was a 1957 Ford Galaxy with a 312 V-8. All of my dad’s cars were bought used and driven/maintained/repaired until they were replaced with the next used car.

Aaahhhhh the memories, kind of makes you wish you could back them up on a multiple terabyte hard drive or something.

Peter,

Yes it is completely original, but somewhat restored. All major systems have been gone through with new Mercedes parts. New brake rotors, calipers, rubber brake lines, TimeValve Stainless Steel exhaust (the only non-Mercedes part), new belts, motor and trans mounts, new fuel hoses, new power steering hoses, new thermostat, new hydromatic compensator, front wheel bearings cleaned and repacked, trans fluid and filter changed, new fuel, oil, power steering filters, A/C recharged, new rear axle bushings along with many other small Mercedes parts that are still available from my local dealer. It has just over 42,000 original miles on her, and a lot of polishing to the bits and pieces. It is a dream come true.

Here is a pic of the underside taken last fall:

Fantastic. Now so salve your conscience you need to donate it to a deserving cause, namely me. I promise I shall continue to polish bits

Tomguy,

Congratulations on your new house, I know it's been a long time search for you, the first one normaly is. No other shows planned at the present, but you can stop by when your free and have the time, just let me know in advance. I'll be more than happy to give you a tour and a drive in the '71, I know you will appreciate it.
