That's a giant radio antenna for love field airport. it broadcasts 360 signals (360 degree) in order to help guide planes in (i think). I spoke to a pilot friend who talked about it.

Wow! That's one hell of an improvement! Who says you need to repaint old single-stage MBs! Too bad silver is a metallic bc/cc or Quicksilver could would look like a million bucks! (ok, maybe a thousand).

So last weekend, we changed out the front sub frame mounts and front shocks so that car sits a little better.

Today, I put a new set of tires on it and bought a muffler from my local wholesaler. The brand is Ansa which I think is Italian but it was about 1/2 the price of the Borla system.

The exhaust system was cut right where the two front pipes come close together so I took it to the local muffler shop and for $100, he mounted the muffler and bent and welded a set of straight pipes to it. It does not have a middle box so it sounds little more throaty then a typical system.

After i put the muffler on, I took the car to a tire shop and replaced the wheels which felt square wheels.

The engine mounts need to be replaced which will be done this weekend. I also found that the car runs hot in traffic. I plan on replacing the fan clutch thermostat and flushing the coolant also this weekend. Hopefully it will help. I don't know by how much in this 100 + degree weather but I had to turn the heater on to max today out of fear of hitting the red.

uh, moving away from the aliens...

whats the specs, engine, performance etc, on that sl, from the euro vs. standard u.s. import model?

(not that the aesthetics alone don't make it worthwhile, but just wonderin'?)

thanks.

(very nice, by the way, and now are you moving on to the 280sl?)

The 500SL is a euro only model. Specs can be found here:
