76 D-Jet 4.5 vs 78 CIS 4.5
Which would be more deserving of a rebuild? and which is overall better?
I may have a spare D-Jet soon..

76 would still be CIS. I think D-Jet was only in production until 1975. What do you have in your car? (that is what you should rebuild).

I currently have the CIS 4.5 in my SEL, and it's got some cam noise, and since I'd have this spare engine, I was wondering if it would be worth building as a spare or using for general parts for my newer 4.5 I don't have to adhere to any smog regulations.

The rocker arms got hydraulic lifters in '76 so not all parts can be swapped.
