that looks a lot like my uncles W114 280CE... its a 2.8l SOHC inline 6, I find it hard to believe it would be a 250CE FI in the states and not a 280 (which more commonly had the chrome tips here too)

Hello,

The 280 C (injected) in the USA all had the M110 double overhead cam engines, I believe. This 250 CE has the fuel injected single overhead cam engine. My brother-in-law owend one for many years. A serviceman brought it back from Europe. It was a wonderful car. Never had any of the emission carburetor issues as the USA versions. It also had a lot more power!

okay, okay, okay.

S T O P everything.

Do you all know what would happen if I bought the whole thing? In 5 years, it would be going back to the junkyard or I would be divorced or my 300SDL would never get back on the road again.

If someone wants the engine, they need to speak up quickly.

Naturally......should I try to turn it "clockwise" ??? Should I check the oil? The transmission fluid?

I'm making a trip to Columbus, Ohio, soon....I could put the engine in the back of the truck.

Maybe the reason I live in South Dakota is to keep me from picking up all of these orphans that I can't stand seeing go to the crusher.
