M130 injection pump oil leak
I'm in the process of resurrecting my '72 280SE, M130 engine. During my general fiddling I reached down to find the idle mixture knob on the back of the injection pump. The knob was stuck solid. So fiddled with it by pushing it in and rotating the knob (I was careful not to engage the mixture screw). Voilą! the adjuster is know now free. Only problem is now I have a monumental oil leak coming from around the now freed up shaft where the shaft goes through the 2 bolt plate on the back of the pump. This leak has spoiled what was an otherwise leak free car.
My question is what kind of seal is used? Is it replaceable or do I need to get a new assembly? I have found pictures and text concerning the adjuster assembly but nothing on the shaft seal or it's replacement. |

These engines a supposed to have a oil supply pipe and a drain. The drain must be blocked and there is excessive oil in the pump sump.
Check the Sl113 forum: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php and engine forum: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?board=16.0 The engines in these cars is the same, well with some minor changes.

here's the bad boy
Here's where the leak originated. The little o-ring under the head of the "screw driver" was hard & brittle. I did call the folks @ Fairchild and they sent me in the right direction. I was able to get a 4mm o-ring for the shaft & a 30mm o-ring for the case to cover seal from the local Ace hardware. Problem solved.
