The wiring harness for the starter consists of the +positive battery cable (very Large wire) then smaller wire which goes on the same terminal as the + battery cable. There are two other wires which attach to the starter on the left side of the battery cable terminal. The smaller wire which attaches to the positive terminal on the starter as well as the 2 smaller wires are part of their own wiring harness which connects to the junction block on the right side of the engine held in place by one of the oil pan bolts. This junction block connects the wiring harness to the alternator wiring. The terminals are different sizes and will attach to the junction block based on their size. Take care to clean the terminals on the junction block as well as the terminal wire ends.
I noticed a major difference in the operation of my electrical system after replacing the positive battery cable, wiring harness from the starter to the junction block and ensuring that all connections were cleaned and screwd on tight but not too tight-the junction block looks to be made from bakelite-an old style of connector block if ever there was one which breaks easily when it gets some age on it. You can make your own wiring harness w/o too much trouble but working room is tight w/o other parts removed. The +battery cable is something which you can take to your local parts store to have made-take the old one with you to get the right length so you will have the proper clearances from starter to battery.
