The one on mine screws off. Most of the cars I saw at the salvage also had broken knobs. Must be a weak design.

Do you know if it is the same with the 114 body? What way do you turn it?

Thanks,

The replacement knob that Mercedes came out with to replace the original ones is a pretty cheap piece of junk. Don't know if they've modified them since I bought one for my W116 300SD, but I was pretty disappointed. If you have observed the original one closely, you will have noticed that the "BRAKE RELEASE" section of the knob spins around so it is always facing right side up no matter how far the knob is screwed on. The new one just has a sticker in place of the original "BRAKE RELEASE" plate and so you have to leave the knob a little loose or else the letters will be upside down if you screw it on "properly".

I tried to get it off today, how fear do you have to unscrew it or doesn't mine came off? What direction do you have to unscrew it?

Thanks for the help. I just got the new one today and took the old one off. It seems that the sticker is right on mine. But it seems allot cheaper made then the old one.

Thanks,
Shea
