Picked up a 280C last night - Yes that makes #5....

So I ended up driving home 1976 280C last night. I know I didn't need another project but this was a very strong running, rust free, 52k original miles fun car.

I have always wanted to a coupe so I couldn't resist getting it. I will post pictures this weekend.

Anything I should look for / replace right away? Other than the usual of course, oil and fuel filter, spark plugs, trans fluid and filter, and flushing the radiator.

Gotta get familiar with the W114 chasis and the 2.8l motor

Quite an accomplishment to find a rust-free old Mercedes in Michigan!
I wouldn't go nuts replacing all the rubber, like some have suggested, but inspect the donut exhaust-hangers, motor mounts and probably replace the rubber brake lines if there's no recent service history on them.
Also check the tires for age (date-code) & dry-rot.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I'd have to agree, as long as it's garaged and driven in the nice weather it should be just fine with those updates. My car that's for sale needs all of those things referenced above, so I'll leave it up to the new owners to decide how/what needs replaced.

Congrats on the car!!! If only I had the time/space/money to keep mine...
