108 Seat re-pad questions

Hi guys, pulled my driver's seat out to re-pad and had some questions.

1. One of my replacement pads is an NOS pad, brown horsehair that really doesn't have much 'give'. In contrast, the other pad is from GAHH and has a little spring to it. Is this older NOS pad going to be like a church pew in terms of comfort, and should I ditch it in favor of a more recent part?

2. Secondly, after removing the seat I moved the fore/aft and lumbar adjusters around a bit. I seems that the adjustment tracks have gone out of square as it is more difficult to move the seat in the tracks than it was before removal. Any tips for getting this apparatus to behave so I can reinstall without too much drama (following a clean/ regrease of the tracks).

Thanks!

i don't know the answer to your question, but i did recently take apart 108 seats to remove the blue seat skins on both front seats, and the original horsehairs were toast. i would go to the junkyard and compare them with 1st or 2nd gen w123 horsehair--if they are close to the same size (err on the side of slightly smaller, or else you won't be able to get the skins back on), you should be good with those.
