450 wont run

, i have a 79 450 sl, starts runs for about 3 seconds shuts off. replaced wires,coil, fuel pump, injectors, cold start injector. plugs are full of gas good spark,car has 98000 miles, been setting for 5 years. car seams to be flooding out. what could be my problem

Are you sure it's dying from flooding and not lack of fuel? What do the plugs look like?

plugs come out soaked with gas. you can smell gas when trying to start. ive pulled the plugs several times and cleaned the plugs, new plugs. thats when it will start and run a few seconds. after the firsrt start there flodded.

Sounds like the fuel distributor has stuck plungers, flooding your engine. Check that first.

This would be the plunger in the center of the fuel distributor. You need to remove the FD and make sure the plunger moves freely.

Don't try to take it apart, just take it off the mixture control assembly. There are two or three screws that hold it on. You will need to remove all of the lines to the injectors and other fuel lines.

There is an o-ring that seals it to the mixture control unit. You might want to have one on hand, dealer should have it.
