The junkyard where I used to work got a 280SE 4.5 in considerably nicer condition once. I actually drove it around the yard a bit. We tried to sell it as a runner for $749. No takers.

Anyone notice that the listed seller was "oursl". A very reputable Mercedes vintage dealer/restorer. I'm surprised they didn't clean that car up a bit before advertising it.

If I had the shop I would love to take on that project. Such potential.... and I would do more than just add paint!

I would say needs a bit of bodywork and a respray . Seems to be too far gone for a paint re-cut.

Fan & radiator comes to mind...for starters...just to see IF they're available...then it's downhill from there...

What's that smell?

Is it...

Is it...

...doesn't that smell like Vaseline?

Happy bidding!!!

I think they are trying to create a sense of excitement that you have a real "barn find"

Lovely looking car - nearly at $3000 and reserve still not met I see...

If you follow the link to the listed website for more info, you'll see that they want(ed) $5,900 for it.

It seems rather sound, no real rust in the undercarriage, which is a good starting point. ft it's a reasonably low mileage car, it can be a good basis for a total restoration. But the cost in the end will be way above the price of a nice one on the market.
