Tobacco brown, right? That was my favorite color back in the eighties.

Lovely car.

I don't get the dark windows though....looks kindof gangsta...doesn't seem to fit with the apparently bone stock rest of the car.

i'm just taking a stab here, but i'm guessing those tinted windows have something to do with the condition of that interior. it's amazing.

Yeah the car has been here in Vegas since the mid ninties and with summer temps hitting 120 deg in the summer, window tint is a must have.

Should be getting the car to my house this weekend! (yeah!)

This looks like a major find to me. The original interior is fantastic, and originality is becoming more prized than ever these days. Judging by the stained headliner around the rear window, it looks like there's a leak somewhere. Mercedes Benz Classic Center may be able to help you locate new rubber for the rear window, and the liner may cleanup with a good detergent. If not, there are people who can color match it with an appropriate spray.

Be sure you get the right mechanic to help you nurse the engine back to life. The 300SE site that was noted elsewhere in this thread really seems to know a great deal about these engines and their idiosyncrasies.

I hope you keep us posted on your progress!

Thx Berfinroy, I have been on the 300SE site and he does have tons of info, as far as the mechanic goes fortunately before I became a photographer I spent 20 yrs as an ASE master certified automotive technician. I have worked on many MB but not this early model. When ever I come across a car I am not familiar with I gather as much info on it as possible, pick everyones brain that I can get to cut loose there knowledge then I make my plan of "attack" so to speak.

Does anyone here know if you can access the oil pump drive? if I could get to the oil pump drive and manually prime the motor before turning it over is what I would hope for.

This car was compleatly reconditioned in the mid eighties (eng, susp, brakes, elect) to the tune of about 20k and the milage was 41k and it now has 59k on it. So I will be lucky if there is minimal damage from it sitting for so long.

Hi Eric, If you can get your hands on the FSM 1959-1967, it will help for sure...
Here's the page regarding the oil pump drive... driven of course by crankshaft via the timing chain.

Thx tbb, It looks like I will have to find another way to pressurize the system,
I got the car home today,no brakes and the front drops within ten minutes. The rear is staying up but I sure all the rubber needs replacing.
What are the odds of injection pump damage after sitting for 10 yrs?

uh, just repeating what i've read here, but would think the fuel in the pump would have gotten a little like "varnish" - cleaning will probably be a good first step, someone here probably knows the proper solvents?

p.s. you have a gem there. enjoy. they are pretty rare these days.
