Greetings, new guy here needing help/300D

I have taken a 1958 300D that has been sitting outdoors into my shop and am beginning the process of resurrecting the old girl. Can someone direct me to a source for comprehensive service manual(s)? Also, if someone could advise the required fuel pressure for the mechanical injection system that would help me get started right away. Thanks for any assistance.

Is it a 1958 300d or a 1985 300D? In either case I suggest you get the service manual on CD from Mercedes for about $20. Best deal going. IMO not as nice as having hard copy paper manuals, but they are big bucks now IF you can find them.

In 58 the big gasser engine car was called a 300d. Big impressive cars which are expensive to buy parts for these days. Best to buy a nice one because the value does not warrant a full restoration.

Thanks to all for the responses. It is indeed a 1958 300D Automatic. She is in bad shape so for now I am just trying to get her running then the owner will make a decision on how far he wants go with any type of restoration. I am still collecting information and will soon be ordering the manual on CD format. Does anyone here know of another owner of this model so that I may learn what the input fuel pressure should be (while I wait for the CD)?

I finally had time to hook up an external fuel delivery set-up to start the car. The electric fuel pump I used was a simple 10 psi unit (no one has been able to tell me the factory pressure rating) bypassing the entire system up to the mechanical fuel injection unit. It started but barely ran and throttle opening made it worse. On the third start up I heard fuel leaking and shut everything down. The previously non-working fuel pump began to work (all over the floor) so I hooked up a snap-on fuel pressure gauge to measure the pressure from the stock pump still mounted on the frame . The gauge read 87 psi ... I trust the gauge but that seems like very high pressure. Anyone out there know if that is correct?
