where is VIN number on w108 250s

Hi,
im new to this forum and to my 250s 1967 and i cant find the vin number anywhere. It doesnt have original engine but here in Thailand i need to find vin number and take a rubbing to change the book to my name.......me and 2 thai bodyshop workers have searched everywhere......is it in some special place or im guessing its been sprayed over!!! please help soon

Look on top-surface of the inner chassis rail on the right side in the engine bay. It should be stamped there, use a flashlight. That's where it is on my euro '66 250SE, maybe yours will be there too?

There should be a plate on the radiator support too.

In other countries, performing a 'stencil' rubbing of the chassis stamping is required by the local DMV for further validity of the vehicle, besides and in addition to what is stamped on the data plate on the radiator support (or dashboard,or A-pillar, or B-pillar). Many times the chassis-number is easily spotted in the top-center of the firewall (like in 123s, etc...), however the older MB models have the numbers stamped on the chassis rail itself and it's often harder to locate & identify.

See #2 below - which is the chassis number stamped on the inner rail as previously mentioned:

Found it, was under loads of dirt and near top in between radiator overflow plastic bottle and something else......phew thanks. By the way no plate by radiator as has been taken off and fillered / sprayed .

W108 Chassis Number Located?

Hi tattoodrob..could you take a picture of where the VIn location of your W108 ...this will help me tooo...I ve been trying to locate my brother in law vin no tooo for DMV registration purposes...but fail ...wasted one half day but unable to locate it....hopefully the repainting workshop didnt grind it Off....
