Jeffrey, Please confirm with Palo Alto the correct Beats Per Hour (BPH), just send them an email describing your year, make, model of car, and brand of clock, they should get back to you within a day or two.

I brought two W108 clocks to the local clock shop today. The owner has the equipment to set it precisely. I also dropped off a Mercedes Ponton dash clock which is mechanical. That clock is wound tight and probably stopped working because it needs oil. If that repair is not too expensive I will bring him the other mechanical which has the same issue.

Then, I have six more clocks with blown fuses to repair. If there is interest, I might offer working clocks that are calibrated. What would be a reasonable price to have an electric working clock? $35 or $50? I would think the mechanical clocks are worth more and are certainly harder to find in working condition.

I've seen 'em on ebay as high as 150 working on ebay, and as low as 60, but I don't trust ebay folks like I trust everyone on peachparts. Ebay is slowly turning into something that resembles a third world african nation.

Jeffery, I just realized that I had the info on the thumb drive in my pocket. Here is the info I got back from Palo Alto back in June:

My question to them: I have a 1971 Mercedes 280SE and have a question about the mechanical VDO KIENZLE clock. Do you know what the beats per hour (BPH) for this clock are?

Their response: They are 16200 BPH. Please let us know if we can help you with any repairs or quartz conversion.

clocks

Thanks all... The clock guy I went to has a tool that calibrates the clock precisely.

Necrosavant, I would be happy to provide your Finnie with a working clock! Your car and mine are almost brothers. They both came to the USA from Naples, Italy with servicemen.

I don't want to be mercenary, but I think I may be able to offer a valuable service at a reasonable price with these clocks.

Jeffrey
