I need a carpet kit for sedan W111 or W108

Hello Peaches,

I need a carpet kit for my W111 sedan. The W108 carpet set also works. The original carpet was light green and got ruined by the leaks.

Was it thin enough to worry about premature wear? Feel or lay different?

With aftermarket insulation/sound deadening on the floor pans, the thickness of the carpet may not be of much worry. I'm mostly concerned about the feel and period correctness material...

For those who have ordered carpet and had it sewn locally, any tips on material so the car won't feel like an '83 towncar?

MAK was the carpet you got from ebay new?
There is a seller company on ebay who sells new kits and I too find the sample he sent me a little 'thin' to say the least.
I will concede tho, his price is competitive. About US$485 last time I looked.
Is this the same guy?

I have two rolls of German weave carpet in storage... I just have zero confidence that I can make it shape correctly.

GAHH sells OEM Mercedes Benz seat covers and carpet. I can buy a kit from them for $835.00.

If my car was looking almost Concours de Elegance condition I would spend $1,000 for carpet, but my car cost that amount and is not going to be worth much more no matter how much money I throw at it.

Thus, if I find a car that suffered an engine fire and is getting parted out, a carpet set that is good could be purchased for a reasonable price.

I purchased a carpet set from World Upholstery. I paid about $500 for it. I took me about 8 hours. Most of that time was spent sizing and cutting the carpet pads and then gluing them in. I was very surprised how easy it went. later I purchased a set of Coco Mats. The overall result is amazing. Well worth ever cent.

twino, did you just buy the carpet then do all the shaping, cutting, etc. yourself? It is my understanding that when you buy a carpet kit, it comes pre-fit for the particular car.

Best Regards,

David

Sorry i had missed that originally . The ebay carpet seller was some individual , I think from N.Dallas ,Carlton or similar. The carpet set writeup was very nice ,product was thin & shoddy.

The carpet set came ready to install, but I had to put new heat and carpet pads in. I double up the thickness in many areas to reduce noise and increase insulation.
Be careful with trying to find that 'DEAL' on Ebay or the web. Stick to the guys who do it for a living. A goo carpet set should last, like mine, 35 years. As the saying goes 'don't jump over a dollar to save a penny'
Good Luck

Fellows here in Finland have purchased the carpet sets from a company in Germany:

http://www.polstermanufactur.de/Teppichsaetze.htm

Here´s some additional photos.

http://cgi.ebay.de/Teppichsatz-f%FCr-Mercedes-Benz-W115%2F8-rot-NEU_W0QQitemZ230421909286QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20100109?IMSfp=TL100109216004r3728

Fellows say that the quality has been super-good and the prices not even the worst , neither cheapest. The page is in german, but the guy talks fluent english and replies fast, which is untypical for germans..

I´m going to order from there soon, after I get some weldings done..

Thank you all for contributing!

After viewing the available options, I have decided to use what I have in stock. Which is two rolls of German weave carpet. I can get padding for underneath locally. I can use the carpet in my other Mercedes as a pattern since W108 and W111 sedans carpet sets are the same pattern.

I was hoping to find a pre-loved carpet set from a Mercedes that was being parted out. But that is not happening.

After looking at the photos of the carpet sets for sale, I realized that the carpet comes flat and is not molded like the newer cars. I can cut my carpet to the pattern and sew on the borders just like the upholstery companies that make sets. If I am not happy with the results I can always spend to buy a set from World Upholstery or GAHH.

Driver's heel pad

Would anyone happen to have a resource for a replacement beige heel pad? The one on my otherwise fine brown/gold loop carpet is breaking up. Thanks!
