transmitter green wire for M110 distributor

I bought a used breakerless distributor for M110 engine and I plan to convert the existing points to BOSCH transistorized one (TSZ something) of my 280S, but the wire was cut and missing a plug, there a way of fixing this? or purchase the transmitter wire with plug? same as breakerless M116/117 engines?

I bet the wire is attached to the pickup inside the distributor. Bet they aren't especially cheap either. Open it up and see if it's fixable, even being a shielded wire one can repair such with enough care taken. Was there a reason to not use a conversion kit on your existing one?

It might be time to hit a wrecking yard or two. I once needed a 'green wire' for a 1984 190E and Mercedes wanted $110 for it.

Porsche is the same way, it's just a shielded low voltage wire, nothing crazy.

Yes sir, it was attached to a dizzy and the wire was shielded type and no plug. I bought the dizzy from a fellow MB fan here in the Philippines. He had a 1974 280 dino years back until he sold it, and it was the only one he had left and no switchgear with it. MB store here has transmitter wire from early 102 engine (green wire), can I use that or not?

Pertronix,HOT SPARK,CRANE are not existent here either, so that's the reason. I think OEM transistorized ignitions are more reliable, the swithgear are rarely breaks on these cars.

That green wire could have one of several different possible end configurations for the switch gear. All are findable on ebay (usually).

- Big coaxial connector so it connects directly to the switch gear.
- Two eyelets where one is obviously the grounding wrap.
- A single eyelet.

For a points setup, the other end is a radio suppression condenser (not the traditional ignition condenser) coupled with a spade terminal passing through a rubber block for the distributor body.

For the HEI you describe, it's soldered into the pickup and if you're really good with a soldering iron, you can probably fix it.

The switch gear can indeed fry. But it the old aluminum cans can be opened and the bad amplifier transistor can be replaced fairly easily.

you mean that coaxial connector used for audio component connection? yes i notice that they're doable

Can I make a DIY electronic ignition box out from HEI?
