yea, i know i already had a customer offer me 500$ for the seats..
im actually thinking about offering it to the owner of european auto service for his w123 wagon, (he never uses it and he said i can have it if i find him a good adenaeur) and i know hes fond of 107's..either that or a convertible is on my list of cars to restore..

also a short update: i took driver side valve cover (the one without the hole)off and it had thrown all the rockers and there was a valve bent at a 45 degree angle with the spring still atatched yet camshaft was unharmed, i did'nt bother taking passenger side off i had other things to do (triying to finish up my sec this weekend) ill head back there today and take some pics

What is your diagnosis on the engine? Is that what bent valves look like? What is the treatment? New engine?

I would just drop in the 5.0 engine and forget about the old iron block 4.5 .Especially the US version.
I don't see rust,I see a little staining but nothing compared to what usually happens with 107's.
i often get cheap mercs too,and i have to stop myself because i just don't have the room to keep them all. Latest was a very nice 420SEL which I already sold the turret and odd parts from.
THe engine grabbed a cam and bent all the valves on one bank so it's not worth even looking inside.
I have never seen a right hand cover smashed (plenty of left ones) especially on a 4.5 so i would say the it's been sadly neglected instead of getting oil changes.

i have a good euro 5.0 i could install from a sel but will the 450 oil pan fit? any ideas what else would be retrofitted? i would much rather put the 5.0 in

Are you saying that the 5.0 is missing it's oil pan? Why do you want to use the 450 pan?

im told theres fitment issues with the 2 piece pan in an sl..i know whenever we sell an sel engine for an sl application we always tell them to use there oil pan..so im unsure ive never actually tried putting an engine in a sl..so no 5.0 is complete from an sel and actually is in my SEC at the moment but will be removed this weekend for my gen2 5.0 engine
