1971 Mercedes Benz 220D pickup

Hello all,
Conversion was top notch and done right by a Tennesse good old boy.
upgrading to a 99 ML 320 Pickup(conversion) so thinking of parting ways with my trusty 1971 220d. She is not in the best shape but used almost daily and has carried over 1000lbs of old beach house to the dump on several occassions. Slower than my yearly tax payment to the IRS.
Tops out at 82 mph.
Has some rust and a mexico style cheap cloth interior. Have way too many cars and looking for more need space pics soon.

Few pics will take more if I get a reasonable offer...Not asking much for it,but I will let you guys tell me what you think it's worth.
Bainbridge Island, WA( couple miles across water from Seattle) but may take it down to Los Angeles sometime in the Summer and put in the garage and yank the Porsche out.

What I do have is every single piece it needs before paint!
what I don't have is the time.

It is a real rarity but to place a value I would want to see how the conversion has been done. Is there rust? Bondo? Is there room to move the seat back and forth? Is it structurally sound?

With all these questoins answered I would be interested but without more information we are shooting in the dark.

What would you call it?

An el-ca-benz-mo?
A benz-cher-o?
Different but very cool!

Wow, that car is somewhat local to me (I'm in Washington also), and I could use a pickup. Haha. That looks more like something you would see in WA (Western Australia) than WA (Washington). I saw a W110 fintail done up like that and it looked good, too.

I thought I'd seen photos of similar conversions done either in Australia or maybe South Africa???
I think they call them "ute's"

Thumbs up

Anyway Like I said the conversion was done properly. Unfortunately I have not cared for it well in the last couple years. There is rust in the rockers that need to be dealt with and the lower front fenders as well, There is bondo as all the side body molding was removed and they decided bondo was the best solution to cover it up.
Now structure was it was reinforced in the right places and is a solid feeling car. I witnessed first hand what it takes for a converted car to pass a TUV inspection in Germany when I was researching building my 250C cabriolet which I sold years ago, and certainly this would pass if the rusted spots are repaired.
I have no delusions, I think it's worth about 2500.00 bucks I could be wrong. Mechanically its a 220d that has been driven from Orange County, CA to Seattle,WA in the last two years, From Los Angeles, to Apacahe Junction,AZ and many places in between.
I have Fenders & rockers but not the time.
Last 2 years the rust has accelerated as it sits outside on the grass next to the Puget Sound. Salt air, mositure= either pass it on to someone with a shop or say goodbye and let decay set it that might not be reversible.
I'm Building a shop this summer,so It won't be available long...just thought I would pop it out there.
AND real funny comparing this to a one off custom 600 built by the worlds 600 expert..Ha ha

south of the border.. way south.

they made them from the factory in Argentina in the early 70s.. this is the only place as far as i know, wikipedia confirms this.. perhaps its from there.. originally.

rust is tought though.

that sucks about the rust though. anywhere near the ocean and they're done for, my mom lives by the sea and had a 94 honda wagon that she bought new.. somehow i got it and gave it to a friend that needed a ride, afterall it wasnt a benz and it wasnt diesel so what he hell was i going to do with it.. but they had to replace almost every bolt on the car as they got into it as the ocean rust, a couple of blocks to the ocean just killed it, it looked ok from close up but in every nook and cranny it was gonzo.
