cheap 6.9s

Anyone else notice the pair of 6.9s that sold recently on ebay. They were in Scottsdale not too far from me, sold cheap, and i had to close my eyes because i value the companionship of a women and no sane woman would accept more projects than i already have here. but still i know someday i will kick myself just like the time in the early 80's when big block cars were out of favor because of high energy prices and a '67 427 Vette was offered to me for $2700 cash.

I did not see these but that's a pretty decent deal. I think that 6.9's and 6.3's have dropped in value. There is a 6.3 on CL for $900!

It's probably a great time to buy if you have space and don't mind getting your hands dirty. It will never be a cheap restoration; but it seems like people are letting go of cars that people will normally hold on to in a good economy and you never find.

Not a bad thing considering that two years ago, you'd need to either be sitting on a pile of cash or borrow money in order to buy a 6.3.

I think it's like that all across the board. I've been seeing more of the larger German sedans in the hands of younger people.

Yeah, I was watching those two 6.9's.

The burgundy one was a running car, and the dark blue one was non-running. You could see that it was missing the water pump.

I called the guy and asked him if the engine would turn over with a wrench on the crank.

He called back later and said it was seized.

If only I had a barn out back......I think I'm going to buy a car that needs to be restored.....if I can find some cheap storage for it. I don't want it to be sitting outside at the shop guy's shop.

I've been wondering about the future of collectible cars post-baby boom (which will be in the next 15-20 years). I don't think kids have the time, space, general talent (although there are CERTAINLY exceptions) or interest in them to support very high prices.

Problem with the 6.3/6.9 is that replacement part prices have stayed high, and availability low. That's going to keep the price of full restoration projects (which is most cars for sale) pretty low. There was a running, driving 6.9 on local eBay here, only 70K, needed the usual suspects but was otherwise a clean original rust free car. Passed on it for $1700. Probably for the better right now.
