Nice looking seats!

Actually the car did not look too bad either.

My good neighbor

Thanks fellas
- My mistake -Technically , actually thats really only a 1/4 roll ,isn't it ?

My good neighbor -posing as a helper with beer in hand . He was gone all day only to arrive back from his golf Sunday afternoon with everything cleaned up and ready to go.

He has a nice 5 acre yard in the middle of Lutherville Md . Would be a nice get together spot for some us sometime this summer . Right where 695 and 83 north converge .

anyone know of a safer way to remove those lower control arms ?
- see pic 2652. I had a large clamp on the control arm , as we backed out that large 22mm(?) bolt and then hit the clamp off with the maul. That somewhat contained that spring .........

About the only way to remove the spring safely and do it easily is to remove the lower inner pivot bolts while the pivot itself is held against the chassis.

Raise the car so the center of the axle is a good 2 feet off the ground w/o tires.
Place a jack solidly against the pivot pin on the lower control arm.
Undo the four bolts holding the pivot pin in place.

The spring has "lethal force", so this is not one of those operations you do on grass if you can avoid it. Also, you don't want to be under the car when you're removing that last bolt.

I had a special jack saddle made. It's piece of round stock to match the old saddle with a V notch in it. A heavy piece of angle iron, about 2" wide is welded into the V of the bar. There is a picture of a similar tool in the service manual.

Well done! It's a pity I missed your other post saying you were parting a W108. I would have come and gave you a hand also. I was not that far from you in a junkyard dismantling a right lower control arm (the way described by CTH, but I just had a small jack I found in the JY so I put it right under the spring as it would not have held in place on the pivot. Worked well).

Was that a 4.5 you parted out? While you're having the rear axle on the floor you should replace the center boot as well as the center rubber bushing. Also look at the sleeve inside the sliding joint, they are often broken and rolls end up all over the place with possibly bad consequences. Check bearings and replace seals at each end and pinion. Replace bushings at each end of the trailing arms. "Coxracing" is offering a poyurethane kit if you want a crisper handling.

ok fellas what did I miss....

This is a test.
I finished putting "everything " back together again. Well almost everything.
I found two of these. WHAT DID I MISS? What does this belong to?
I have two - not sure if one came from the parts car or both belong to the good car.
Picture is not the best - it is just over of 3/16 tall with machined center 1/8 '' deep 15/16'' overall width ?

where does it belong
Thanks in advance
