My 250S

Hi!,
I've got a 1967 250S mercedes with the in-line 6 cyl.,and the(2)one bbl carbs, and I'm wondering just how many years, say, ('67 to'77)for instance, will still fit into this fine automobile.
I've searched the I/N, but to no avail.
Heh, mine has this huge hole in the lower passenger side, right above the pan.
Thank you,
Happy Holidays!
Gary

I not sure what information your looking for. The post is a little unclear.

If your looking for what engines you can put in your car, that is easy. You should have a M114 engine with a single chain drive. 2496 cc displacement. You can upgrade with out any problem to a M130V douoble chain seven main bearing engine.

I think the M114 engine was rated at 146 hp
The M130V carb engine at 157 hp
You could also add some Weber carbs for an extra 8-10hp ?
about $700 but well worth it.

These engines were made between about 1966 to 1973 or so.
after that there was a M110 engine double overhead cam engine.

The hole on the floor is so the manuel transmission can be filled.

The hole he refers to sounds to me like a rod went through the block ....
Thus, the new engine....

Talking

Humm.... that makes sense. for some reason I thought he ment the floor board.

Well in that case, I have a rebuilt M130V engine I'm not using that I can part with.

You can put any mercedes 6 cylinder engine in that car. But, there are a couple of rules to follow.

- Stick with a carb'd motor. Wiring in the fuel injection is doable, but do you really want to do that ?

- As long as you don't use the M110, you can keep your current exhaust.

- Keep the carbs with the engine. They are all jetted a bit differently. You can recycle these carbs on any M114 engine (the 250S or 250/8).

- Keep the transmission with the engine. The valve bodies are different. Same engines as above for this one.

- If you go for an M130, take it's transmission too. If the transmission doesn't have the same number of bolts on the oil pan as yours (16 for yours, either 4 or 16 for the M130), you also have to switch the drive shaft.

- All the other bolt on accessories can be kept, but it's usually easier to get a motor with a power steering pump. All the pumps are the same, but the mountings change for different models.
