Its always interesting to see these comparison, thanks for posting. I have a similar one between a Jag XJS and 450SLC for the same era and its the same story with a desperate lack of funds on the British side forcing them to hide behind tradition and conservative values to justify their older technology (Rolls) and lack of development (Jags). I love old British cars too but generally if you buy a 70's one it will probably be based on technology from the 50's or earlier.

What needs to be noted is the value of both the 280SE 3.5 cabrio today and that of a Cornish...even rotten 3.5's fetch many times more than a Cornish... and as for the excremental XJS,i have seen them given away for free ...
