111 fuel pump repair

greeting,
I'm working on restorting a 1964 220se 111, 127.014. the electric fuel pump has been sitting for some time (out of the car) it still works to spec pressure, but the shaft seal has developed a leak. new pumps on ebay are in the 500.00-600.00 range. does anyone make a rebuild kit for these pumps? thanks in advace

Welcome to the Forum! If our host does not sell one; I know someone who sells kits. We try to buy parts from Fastlane Phil who provides this forum.

Two types, tall dry motor(early) shorter easier to rebuild (later type)

If you have the later, try to soak it in a gallon of gas for a few days to swell the seals.

I just had one dry out from cleaning and drying the fuel system, (1965 220SEb) for 2 months. and it leaked upon filling the tank.
After a few hours it stopped and has remained stopped.

You may not need a new one of the motor still spins.
also remove and clean the one-way valve at the pump exit.
Please report back, a lot of these pumps are replaced needlessly.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm not in favor of replacing the pump either.I'll try soaking it and let you know.
