THE LAST 280 SE 4.5??

I understand there were 21,700 built. Mine is number 21,674. It would be neat to know if the ones built after mine were still alive. Any thoughts on how I could research that? Anyone here have a later build number? Thanks.

I thought all 280SE(L) 4.5's were manufactured in 1972, but many were unsold in '72, so were sold in and registered as '73 models.

The production number, as I understand it, is the last six numbers in your VIN. Where do you see the production date?

Anything built in 7/71 or later is considered part of the 1972 model year. -CTH

You may discover where you car falls in the order, but you'll never discover what happened to the 25-odd cars that came off the lot behind yours. There's just no means to do that.
