This is exactly what we all dream of finding!

Just clean it up and you're good to go!

There is probably moisture in the brake fluid which has rusted in the master cyl and calipers. I would totally dissasemble the brake system, flush the hard lines, replace the hoses, master cyl and calipers. Nothing can be trusted after sitting so long.

I was trying to figure out how it could be burning so much fuel but i think the return line is sending it back to the tank. I guess that will help if anything. I think i'm going to remove the tank next week and take it up to the radiator shop as someone here suggested. She is idling a little high but I think it may have something to do with the brake vacuum. The booster seems to be working but my guess is that the lines are all clogged and calipers aren't all working? Any thoughts?

Replace all the brake lines and do a full flush. My 108 sat ~10 years garaged before my parents got it. The master cyl went out in the first year. A flush probably would have prevented it!

Before replacing all the hard lines I would do an inspection of them. The car is very clean so they could be just fine too. They are not wear items and if the car has existed in a place where they don't salt the roads they could be just fine.

I've had a bunch of benzes and cannot remember replacing any hard brake lines due to rust, I have had fuel lines rust through though. I have had several benzes which were and are pretty rusty.

my thought there on the hard lines was disconnecting them to do the calipers. You may find you will bung up the ends and then just easier to replace with new, not saying you will , but you might. Its easy. I think on my 220 resurection I replaced 50% of them.

guys thanks for all the kind words of encouragement! I'm looking forward to getting her road worthy soon, progress has come to a halt this week since I'm out of town for work but I will be back on it next weekend! I will keep you posted on what i find with the brakes but I will definitely be replacing most if not all. Thanks for being there with me for the journey!

i was given a 280S today...I just need to find room for it..Apart from little rust in the boot floor beside the fuel filler,it's original and rust free.
it's been in this spot for 12 years . The colour is 726 beige grey ,a really unusual colour for a w108 .

Somewhat hard to judge the paint color, it looks a little pollinated! Now when is someone going to give me a rust-free 108? I stand a better chance of actually winning the Powerball, and that's a stretch as is!

It's green with moss ,the shed is at the foot of a mountain covered in Subtropical rain forest . This one is outside being used as storage shed for even more loose parts.

HEY! Did I turn a project car lead onto you last week???

Okay, so, it wasn't exactly a "cheap" one.

You just need to get out and drive around! Those project cars will
find you.
