I'm with Mercmad6.3 --- I could use a place to store more projects. I really do need to buy a building like Strelnik did.

Sorry to the original poster for the various hijacks of your thread.....some of us are getting carried away.

Update: so I was able to start working on the brakes a little today, looks like the booster is shot and will need to be replaced....also I think I found the problem with the rear brakes that the previous owner was telling me about....take a close look at the caliper on the left, this was exactly how I pulled it off the car.

I actually have a booster for that car. I bought it used for a 250S I was about to buy that needed a booster. If you'd be interested, I'll do some digging and see if I can find it.

Rock auto can rebuild them? I would be interested to know how they do it. The calipers look bad alright but are rebuildable.

The booster? or the master cylinder? I didn't know that ATE supplied parts to rebuild the boosters,if you could get them apart even.

I have the satelite booster near the radiator as opposed to the firewall. I took it apart and replaced two rubber bits, now it works perfectly. The parts were not available at the Classic Center so I got them from a guy in Dallas, Texas. I did also rebuild the master cylinder.

There is a thread with pictures somewhere in the archive.

Hi,yes I know which type you mean, most are removed here and replaced with locally made PBR units which are cheap and rebuildable. .You got the parts for your booster from Will Samples?

Brandon's barn find has a new owner!

I am now the proud owner of the 250S Brandon found near Wilmington NC. I have some pics here but more details about the car will have to wait. Mrs. and I have been babysitting three grandkids and we're worn out. I will probably start a new thread on the continuing story of this wonderful car. The hood is up a bit in these pics because I had the battery on the charger. I'm looking forward to a rewarding few months completing the job that Brandon had started. Like he, I will be leaning on the experts in the crowd for advice as I am a dieselhead. This is my first gas Benz.

This is the car that Brandon started this thread about. I have bought it from him. Originally owned by an aeronautical engineer, then willed to his nephew who parked it in 1990 when he was having problems with the rear brakes. There it sat for over 20 years until Brandon found it and rescued it. I have taken over the "refreshment" of the car as it doesn't need "restoration".
