79sd door handle question

on my sd trying to get several doors open from outside requires a lot of force once you pull handle,its as though its stuck,the handle pulls easily but door wont open easily,i dont know how to trouble shoot this ?

It could be that the parts inside the door mechanism, that the handle is attached to, are bent or worn out. You can also adjust the throw of the door handle to allow it to grab more of the door mechanism.

If you remove the door handle (two hex key screws on the side of the door under a plastic plug and one Phillips screw reached from inside the door), you will see a rod on the back of the door handle with a screw on the end. You can loosen this screw, reposition the rod, then tighten to adjust how far the handle pulls the door mechanism.

My left rear door wouldn't open with the outside door handle. It turned out that the whole mechanism was worn out and I had to replace it.
