just remember it is 35 years old so there will be "things" but I can tell you it is much fun ( most of the time) to keep these ol gals on the road. The picture looks good, get the PPI, everthing else can be sorted , parts are available, this forum rocks as well . You already have some of the best following your thread!

Also keep in mind that even if this coupe has somehow survived over 35 years without rust, if you subject it to regular attacks of salt & slush, it won't remain rust-free much longer!
So it may be a good idea to hang on to the Peugeot awhile, at least until you can find a beater more suitable for New York winters.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I agree with meltedpanda. I picked up my 1973 280SE in May and am amazed at how comfortable, driveable and fun it is for a 38 year old car. You become easily attached and enamored and want to keep the ol gal running. I say go for it - with the recommendation of a thorough ppi by a knowledgeable indie. Good luck.

Again thanks to you all. I really can't wait till early spring to road test this nice looking 280 C.
PJ67coll--- yes my Peugeot is 23 years old and showing signs of the salt cancer but she's got some time left.

I am going to take a little different approach, why do you want to buy the car?

Is it going to be an occassional cruiser? Is it going to be a daily driver? Do you want to enter into car shows or win a Concours event?

If it starts up and appears all is well, $2500 is a good price better if you can negotiate. One drive this time of year isn't going to doom the car. If the car is as great as you think, have a pro detailer come over afterward.

BTW, where in NY are you? I know of one that looks very similar that a fellow has been trying to sell if this one doesn't work out.

If you are remotely close to Central NY let me know aqs we have regular MB club meetings and can help you with whatever you need.

MB Mike this MB would be a nice weather-sunday tour car, replacing my old Peugeot. Not a car show type guy, just always loved MB and likely will never get anything new. Spent time in Germany 1987,loved the Benz Museum etc.
I live in the lower Albany-upper catskills and have no extra garage space so this will have to wait till snow melt, and seller is not pushing me to buy at all.
thanks for the invite to your club will look into this during spring.

Rahulio1989300E thanks for the reply,
