Hairball has risen from the dead or shall I say avoided the gallatin

After putting all of the components on the engine she is ready for insertion.

The engine fits in quiet well.

I was surprised that it only took one hour to get it in and bolted down. A couple of hours later everything was connected and ready for test start. Well not completely put together. I was waiting on replacement fittings which I was unable to remove and a new oil pressure line which I broke.
I also installed a new 123 Ignition distributor.
Everything ran well the first day but then the engine started to run poorly. The air/fuel mixture was off. I would adjust it with zero results. So, I ran through the check list searching for the cause of the problem. I even called Gus, at Pacific Fuel Injection, for advice. There turned out to be two problems. The Idle adjustment screw was stuck at the highest rich setting and the control rack shaft was also stuck. I had to pull the IP to get to the idle screw which was good because all of the nasty creamy oil/water (from the old engine blown gasket) was still in the pump. I removed the old and put in new oil. I pushed in the control rack shaft, as advised from the manuel. This test must have loosened the shaft because the fuel air problem disappeared.
The next problem was that the timing was bouncing around and the engine was running rough. I check the spark plugs and two were not responding when I removed the wire. Changed them and the engine and timing fell into line. (I then replaced the other four for good measure).
With the timing corrected I could now finally make the fine fuel/air mixture adjustments. Which is easy to do when you disconnect the IP linkage and then add air, through the throttle, or the fuel, through the IP, which ever speeds up engine speed tells me which direction to adjust the Idle screw. While at the same time adjusting the air screw on the manifold.
Now 'Hairball' is purring like a baby kitty.

Excellent, keep it up! I felt so bad for you after you wrecked your last car and then found all of the problems with this one, but hopefully the frustration is nearly over.

I bought my W110 from a seller who said that everything had been gone through or rebuilt, only to have to go through everything again myself, and I'm also probably going to be pulling the engine in a few months.

SWEEET!! Are you driving the car? What does the new engine feel like?

You must be pretty happy with the car now... We need to do a video!
