Nice!

(But I must complain about the steel band on the air intake of that first stand alone engine - it is slightly askew - I mean what is the world coming to?)

I know, terrible oversight by the normally perfect Germans

I got lost in your country on the way back to the UK, saw a lot of nice blonde girls on bicycles though which made up for it

It isn't my country I come from yours (or the one where you live now) - and yes the nice blond girls on bikes are everywhere and cause me no end of distraction... even the one I married still does it for me!

Terrible, just terrible! I would have given then a tongue-lashing if I'd been there!!!

And on the second engine, a 280SE engine, they never plated the screw on oil filler cap. Another glaring error.

I'm so depressed.

BTW, my father has a 1965 300SE Long back in the 70's. What a car.

That 6.3 engine is in a Coupe!

And I don't see the air compressor, so they must have used a spring suspension. Do you have more pictures of that car? What was it? A private, or a restauration shop displaying it?

I think that's the only picture of that one I have, I just took the engine bay since it was like you say a 6.3 stuffed into a Coupe. It was one of the many restoration companies displaying there, it was almost depressing after a while as they were so nice, makes my 250 look like a right old heap...

I went there once and it was amazing. I wonder how much people invest into these restaurations and if they ever get their money back in case of resale.

Lovely pics.

True many will never get their money back, but it is nice people will do it anyway. Sometimes you just have to do things you can be proud of without regard to cost.
