1970 280SL needs a new distributor. Where can I get one?

After changing the plugs, cap, and rotor, I've decided that the distributor needs to be replaced.

I took the thing out and checked the point gap on each open point and the gaps are different. Shouldnt each side be the exact same? Where do you guys get quality cheap parts?

Try Star Motor Cars in Houston. They are the lowest cost on parts.

Here is an old post with a source:

I got a rebuilt distributor from Ed Hendrich (or something like that) at EEC in Los Angeles. His email is: heidrich@sigmanet.net
His address is: 6059 Lake Murray Blvd, La
Mesa CA 91942-2506. I don't have his phone number.

The price was very reasonable and I was pleased with the distributor.

Also try:

http://www.pgauto.com/home.htm

Provide Bosch number found on the distributor housing to the potential source. I believe a late model SL like yours is 0231 116 062

Regards,

Randy quoted me around 150 (more depending on if certain parts needed to be replaced). But it turned out that AutoZone.com sells the replacement part for $190 with a $90 core refund. So I got it for 100 buck in 3 days

I'll let you know ho it works out
