A small garage certainly makes things hard. If I was in your position, I would prep during the winter and paint in spring and of course post pictures so that we can all ooh and ahh at it

I saw your W116 450 SEL 6.9 restoration on your blog...a long time ago (I was amazed by it in fact). That exceeds both my known abilities ( I'm sure I could do it, I just never tackled something that involved before), but mostly my patience. But I'm sure if I had a lot more space to work and move around my attitude would improve.

I'd love to take credit for all of that rust repair but all I did there was write the cheques. Since then, I've painted 3 cars myself but none had the kind of rust that that car did. I am getting better at it every time,
I did take on a rustier bucket with the 73 280CE which you can see on the weekend wrenching thread. Once I cut out all of the rust in the floor, I wasn't sure where to go and was pretty close to scrapping it. I ended up hiring a professional welder who was able to make more progress in two days then I did in 3 months. I guess that I'm learning my limitations

At my age (50) I'm beginning to find my patience is a greater limitation than my actual abilities are.
