6.9 in rancho cordova pick and pull

1978 6.9 located in the rancho cordova ca pick and pull. Its 99% complete, but it doesnt look like it has run in quite some time (i would guess more than 10 years). They possibly would sell the whole thing for $800 or so, or if anyone needs parts for one they should take a look.

If you have nothing better to do, pull the hydraulic parts. and one of the FI parts.

For the FI, there is a long pipe that connects the WUR to the rest of the system. That pipe is rubber lined, so it's not repairable. Don't bend it on removal. Also, there is no guarentee that it's any good. You can save the WUR too.

For the hydraulics, there are two rectangular bricks, each connected to the sway bars (one front, one back) that control the system. Cut the metal pipes with a heavy duty wire cutter and then unbolt the valve mount from the car. The adjustable metal rod that connects the valve to the sway bar can be salvaged usually (new, they're like 50$), but it's faster to break it.

The tank has a valve assembly on top, rescue it by cutting the metal lines. Preserve the soft rubber line that connects to the pump on the motor. Save that pump too.

Lastly, there are the four hydraulic pistons. They have a rubber hose attached that has to be kept with the piston, don't cut it. Just cut the metal line it connects to instead. If you really want to save them, the lower control arm is unique to the 6.9 too.

The steering arms ,suspension uprights and the steel upper control arms are 6.9 specific too. The steering box is a high ratio unit and a good swap into a W116 or W123 for a quicker steering . At $800 I would buy the whole thing and ebay the bits on ebay.de

Someone really should buy the whole thing, the parts that have been mentioned as worth pulling would be more than half what it would come for the whole car. If I had the money and space I would buy it, but I dont, and I dont have the money to buy $400 or so worth of stuff to resell. I hope someone can either buy it or go pull the good parts for someone else to use though. BTW, if anyone keeps track of these things, it is #5140
