Blower Motor Fix

I recently got the heater box out of my 72 280SE 4.5 and found the problem with the blower motor. Once this was disassembled the culprit was a brush jammed in the bore. Rather than come out it decided to disintegrate. I attempted to find a source for brushes but Kansas is far far from the Fatherland so I decided to attempt a fabrication. I had set of used alternator brushes from a 84 Pontiac Firebird that were a bit larger than the good brush I unsoldered from the other side. The connector wire was also smaller so I salvaged the old one from the bad brush. I cut the pontiac brush down carefully with a hack saw blade on some old newspaper (its graphite) and finished the surfaces to fit with a file. A hole in the base was made with a tiny dremel engraving bit, hollowing it a bit so the solder will fill it and not pull out once I put the connector wire in. The length was cut level with the hole (they aren't solid on GM products) in the brush. Dropped in the brush and soldered it and its mate and it works like a charm. Necessity is a Mother.
