My posts are beneficial for showing the heater box removed from the car and aids in visualizing the system. Unfortunately, the W108 through W112 series cars do not have detailed websites like 190SL and Pagoda (which are a world of information).

You really need to subscribe to the EPC, as it is free. Not only will it provide access to part numbers/quantities, but also the visuals help greatly! According to the EPC, part #18 does not apply to the W109 3.5 (USA or Europe). The EPC will shade the part number on the illustration accordingly. I have downloaded the W109 3.5 USA Parts List and Illustrations...but the shaded area does not appear over the part numbers. But not to worry, the parts list does not include any part that doesn't apply to your chassis (in otherwords, some of the part numbers in the pictures will not be found on the parts list).

The diagram JP posted is a great reference and part number 18 gives an idea of what the part looks like. It still wouold be best to look it up in the EPC to verify the exact part number.

Send me your e-mail address, as the file is too large to download on this forum.

Hi JP
i found the same info on everythingbenz.com

Is it the way that the #24 is not applicable for the 300SEL 3.5?
I also can't find the air hose in the diagram which is missing in my car.

I looked up the part that John point out again (also the one I stated was not on the w109 3.5. It's befuddling!! This part shows up on EVERY W108, along with the W109 6.3. The only ones where it is shaded out are the W109 3.5 and W109 4.5!

I suggest you call the classic center in So. Cal and tell them of this dilemma!

I further suggest you join the M100 group: The International M-100 Group
You can join the forum for free. I would kindly ask the 6.3 forum why this would be eliminated on the EPC for 300SEL 3.5 and 4.5's only. There are a lot VERY knowledgeable people on that site, who have a sincere interest in all Mercedes or the rest of the W108/W109 line.

part #24 is no more available from MB. But maybe the function is no so critical and I can live without?
If I had a picture of this part (deflector) I could easily build/form something out of sheet metal an install.
I get the point that it sits in one corner outside of this flap opening. Is it the lower right corner if you take my picture of this flap with the philipps screw in the bottom right?

I ordered the 1 1/2 airhose for the AC duct from the middle to the eyeball left side. That should so the job
