Brake master cylinders
Pertaining to the W116 Chassis,
Are the master cylinders in these cars 'self bleeding'? As in doesn't need to be bench bled (closed circuit from out ports back to the reservoir). dry as in the case of a new or freshly rebuilt one.

Always a good idea to get fluid flowing before installing, then a good power bleed if possible.

When I put on a new one I just hook some little hoses up to the outlets and bleed the fluid back into the brake fluid tank.
It's a bit of trouble, but better safe than sorry. At least you know you are starting out with a MC that is full of fluid. |
